What are All on 4 Dental Implants?
The All-On-4 Dental Implant Treatment is the pinnacle of technological innovation for Full Mouth Reconstruction. This groundbreaking treatment caters to individuals grappling with deteriorating or absent teeth and takes about two to three hours per arch to complete using just four dental implants.
By late afternoon, patients can walk out of the office with a temporary set of teeth securely in place.
This solution looks and feels like natural teeth and preserves the facial structure and prevents bone loss, which is common after losing one or more teeth. The procedure generally involves implant placement, followed by attaching replacement teeth.
Understanding the Procedure for All-on-4 Dental Implants in NYC
The All on 4 dental implant procedure begins with a detailed examination to ensure the appropriate location and angle for the four dental implants during implant surgery. Local anesthesia is used for your comfort during oral surgery. Two implants are placed at the front of the jaw, and two posterior implants are placed at the back in areas with higher bone density.
After implant placement, temporary teeth are attached, allowing you to enjoy soft foods while the jaw bone fuses to the titanium implants. Implant supported dentures eliminate the need for adhesives, remain securely in place, and offer significant advantages over traditional removable dentures, such as reduced discomfort and enhanced overall oral health. After a waiting period of about six months, your permanent set of teeth is attached, completing your new smile.

Continuing Education
Dr. Leonetti performs various types of general dentistry for patients of all ages including restorative and preventative care, root canal therapy, Invisalign orthodontics, and gum surgery.
In his studies at the Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine, he focused on cosmetic procedures and implant dentistry. To provide treatment for an underserved population, he traveled to Managua, Nicaragua, in 2017 to provide dental implants to patients who had often lost many teeth due to a lack of proper dental care.
Dr. Leonetti continues to advance his skills every year so he can provide his patients with impeccable care, an activity he is passionate about.

When he’s not caring for patients, he enjoys golfing, skiing, and cooking.

Not only does he enjoy the opportunity to connect with others daily while educating them on the importance of their oral health, but he also loves helping people gain confidence through a healthier and more beautiful smile. Keep reading to learn more about his background and education.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Throughout college, Dr. Ruhrkraut had been interested in the field of medicine until he decided to switch gears and focus more on dentistry. This was due to his participation in a mission trip to Honduras in 2011, where he assisted a dentist there and resumed shadowing him back in the United States. After learning much more about the wonderful opportunities that dentistry offered while also helping to improve a patient’s overall quality of life, he set himself to pursue a life as a dentist!
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Ruhrkraut attended The Ohio State University for his bachelor’s degree before studying at their College of Dentistry to earn his dental doctorate. Throughout his years as a general dentist, he’s enjoyed the flexibility it’s given him to provide a holistic plan and various treatments to his patients. He’s worked in multiple offices in New York City and Los Angeles, and he’s gained extensive knowledge and skills in multiple types of services, including root canals, crowns and bridges, dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, and Invisalign. He also regularly seeks continuing education to remain on top of the latest advancements in dentistry, and he’s also an active member of the American Dental Association and New York Dental Association.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Aside from treating pearly whites, Dr. Ruhrkraut loves to return to his hometown of Cleveland, OH to visit his parents and loved ones several times a year whenever he gets the chance. Away from the office, he enjoys cooking, reading, watching movies, playing volleyball, and traveling. One fun fact about him: he’s an Eagle Scout and received the Triple Crown Award after canoeing, hiking, camping, and sailing in three national high adventure programs.

Are All on 4 Dental Implants Worth the Money?
Yes. While the initial cost may be higher than traditional dentures, All on 4 dental implants are an investment in your oral health and quality of life. Denture implants, such as All-on-4 and Ball Retained systems, provide support for full dentures, enhance aesthetics by mimicking natural teeth, and can be a cost-effective solution. They are more stable, comfortable, and durable. They allow you to eat, speak, and smile confidently. Additionally, because only four implants are needed to replace an entire set of teeth, they are often more affordable than replacing multiple missing teeth with individual implants. Implant dentures offer enhanced aesthetics, improved self-confidence, and better oral health compared to traditional removable dentures.
All on 4 Dental Implants vs. Traditional Dental Implants
Traditional dental implants often require more implants, and in cases of low jaw bone density, additional procedures like bone grafting may be necessary. A bone graft involves taking bone from another part of the body or using a particular bone grafting material to encourage growth in the jaw.
In full mouth restorations, multiple dental implants are often needed to support a fixed bridge, ensuring a complete arch of teeth. This approach requires sufficient jawbone and may involve additional procedures like bone grafting to achieve the desired results.
All-on-4 dental implants typically do not require bone grafting, as the two longer implants in the back are tilted to make the most of available bone. All-on-4 dental implants in NYC are specifically designed to provide full-mouth restoration using only four implants, whereas traditional implants might require six to eight implants per arch.
What is the Failure Rate of All on 4 Dental Implants?
All on 4 dental implants have a relatively low failure rate. However, as with any surgical procedure, there is a risk of implant failure. The success of your 4 dental implant procedures is highly dependent on the expertise of your oral surgeon, the quality of materials used, and proper post-operative care. At Lux Smiles NYC, our New York dental office uses top-of-the-line materials and state-of-the-art technology to ensure the highest success rates.
How Painful is the All on 4 Dental Implant Procedure?
Implant surgery for the All-on-4 dental implant procedure typically results in minimal discomfort for most patients. The surgery takes approximately 2.5 hours per arch and is performed under local anesthesia. Post-surgery, any discomfort can typically be managed with over-the-counter pain medication.

How long is the recovery period for All-on-4 dental implants?
The initial recovery period after the All-on-4 procedure is usually about 2-6 weeks. However, the implants take approximately 3-6 months to fully integrate with the jawbone.
Can I eat normally after getting All-on-4 dental implants?
Immediately after the procedure, it’s advisable to stick to a soft diet to avoid putting too much pressure on the new implants. Gradually, you can introduce more solid foods. Once the implants have fully integrated, you can eat normally.
Is there any maintenance required for All-on-4 dental implants?
Yes, like natural teeth, All-on-4 dental implants require regular maintenance. This includes daily brushing, flossing, regular dental check-ups, and cleanings at your NYC dental office.
Will All-on-4 dental implants look like my natural teeth?
All-on-4 dental implants are designed to look, feel, and function like natural teeth. They are customized to match the color, shape, and size of your natural teeth, making them a seamless addition to your smile.
Are All-on-4 dental implants suitable for everyone?
Not everyone is a candidate for All-on-4 dental implants. Factors like jawbone density, gum health, and overall medical history can affect eligibility. It’s essential to thoroughly consult your implant dentist in NYC to determine if All-on-4 is the right option for you.
What is the cost of All-on-4 dental implants in New York, New York?
The cost of All-on-4 dental implants varies based on factors such as the complexity of the case and additional procedures that may be needed.
Can I sleep with my All-on-4 dental implants in my mouth?
All-on-4 dental implants are fixed and non-removable, so you can sleep with them in your mouth. They function much like natural teeth.
How can I schedule a consultation for All-on-4 dental implants in NYC?
You can schedule a consultation by contacting Lux Smiles NYC or any dental office that offers All-on-4 dental implants in New York City. The dentist will evaluate your oral health during the consultation and discuss your options.
