Dental bridges work by holding a replacement tooth in the gap created by your missing tooth or teeth. On either side of the false tooth, dental crowns on top of your adjacent teeth support the bridge and hold the artificial replacement tooth in place.

Dental Bridges NYC
Missing teeth are a damaging issue both aesthetically and practically. The gap left in your mouth is unappealing and can lead to chronic pain, jawbone morphing, and even infection. Losing teeth may also affect how you eat, drink, talk, and live your everyday life.
Dental bridges in New York are one of the easiest ways to fix the problems presented by missing teeth. Dental bridges “bridge” the gap where the tooth once was, restoring your shining smile and oral functionality. For dental bridges in Gramercy Park, NYC, and the surrounding neighborhoods, call Lux Smiles at (212) 777-7126.
Benefits of Dental Bridges
Dental bridges work by holding a replacement tooth in the gap created by your missing tooth or teeth. On either side of the false tooth, dental crowns on top of your adjacent teeth support the bridge and hold the artificial replacement tooth in place. The result is a strong system that allows you to live as if you never lost a tooth.

Additional Information About Dental Bridges in NYC?
Dental bridges effectively replace missing teeth, restoring both function and appearance. Our practice provides high-quality dental bridges to help you regain a confident smile and maintain your oral health. A dental bridge could be the perfect solution if you have tooth gaps due to tooth loss.
What is a Dental Bridge?
A dental bridge is a fixed dental restoration that fills the gap created by one or more missing teeth. It consists of one or more artificial teeth, called pontics, anchored by dental crowns on the adjacent teeth or dental implants. Dental bridges restore your ability to chew, speak, and smile confidently, and they help maintain the shape of your face and prevent remaining teeth from shifting out of position.
How Do Dental Bridges Work?
Here’s a step-by-step overview of how dental bridges work:
- Consultation and Assessment: During your initial visit in NYC, we will evaluate your dental needs and determine if a dental bridge is the right option for you.
- Preparation: The teeth adjacent to the gap (abutment teeth) are prepared by removing a small amount of enamel to make room for the crowns.
- Impressions: We take impressions of your teeth to create a precise mold for your custom bridge.
- Temporary Bridge: While your permanent bridge is being made, a temporary bridge is placed to protect your teeth and gums.
- Placement: Once the custom bridge is ready, it is securely placed and adjusted to ensure a comfortable fit and natural appearance.
Benefits of Dental Bridges
- Restores Functionality: Dental bridges restore your ability to chew and speak correctly, improving oral function.
- Aesthetic Improvement: They provide a natural-looking solution that enhances your smile and confidence.
- Prevents Teeth Shifting: By filling the gap, dental bridges prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position, leading to bite problems and other issues.
- Durable and Long-Lasting: With proper care, dental bridges can last many years, providing a reliable and durable solution for missing teeth.
Dental Bridge vs. Implant
Patients in NYC often wonder about the differences between dental bridges and dental implants. While both are effective solutions for replacing missing teeth, they have distinct advantages:
- Dental Bridge: Ideal for patients who prefer a quicker solution, dental bridges do not require surgery and are completed in a few visits.
- Dental Implant: Dental implants involve a surgical procedure and provide a more permanent solution that mimics the natural tooth root. They can last a lifetime with proper care.
Different Types of Dental Bridges
Dental Implant Support
If you have a gap where more than one tooth is missing, our Lux Smiles dentists may utilize dental implants. With this method, dental crowns are attached to the dental implants rather than your natural teeth to provide extra support for the dental bridge.
While placing dental implants to stabilize the dental bridge results in a robust system, the duration of surgery is a downside. Since dentists must surgically place the implants, you won’t have the final dental bridge for at least five months. If you have severe pain and require a more immediate solution, this may not be your best option.
Cantilever Bridges
Unlike typical dental bridges, Cantilever bridges connect to a single crown. Our dentists often use these bridges when patients only have adjacent natural teeth on one side of the missing tooth. The dome attaches to the natural teeth, and the dental bridge extends horizontally to fill the gap with a prosthetic tooth.
Maryland Bridges
Maryland bridges are a unique type of bridge as they don’t utilize any dental crowns. Instead, the replacement tooth has extensions that attach to the back of the teeth and hold the tooth in place. As crowns aren’t placed on the natural teeth, Maryland bridges eliminate the need to file healthy tooth enamel.
How Much is a Dental Bridge?
The cost of a dental bridge varies depending on the number of teeth being replaced, the materials used, and the case’s complexity. We offer flexible payment options and work with insurance providers to make dental bridges affordable for our patients in NYC. Contact us for a personalized estimate.
